Crypto Wallet Risk Score Explained — How CryptoGuard Rates Wallets

Every wallet you scan on CryptoGuard gets a risk score from 0 to 100. Here's exactly how we calculate it and what each level means.

What Is a Risk Score?

A risk score is a number from 0 to 100 that represents how likely a wallet is to be involved in malicious activity. A score of 0 means no risk was detected. A score of 100 means the wallet is confirmed dangerous — it may be on the OFAC sanctions list or flagged as a known scam address.

How We Calculate the Score

CryptoGuard combines data from multiple verified sources to produce each risk score:

  • OFAC US Treasury sanctions list check
  • GoPlus Security database (phishing, blacklist, theft, honeypot, fake tokens)
  • Mixer/tumbler interaction detection (Tornado Cash, Blender.io)
  • Transaction pattern analysis (inbound/outbound ratios, volume)
  • Failed transaction rate (potential exploit attempts)
  • Balance vs. transaction volume anomalies

Each data source contributes points to the final score. An OFAC sanctions hit immediately scores 100 (CRITICAL). GoPlus phishing flags add 40 points. Mixer interactions add 25 points. The scores are capped at 100.

Risk Levels Explained

0–24LOW

The wallet shows no signs of malicious activity. It has not interacted with known scam contracts, mixers, or sanctioned addresses. Safe to transact with.

25–49MEDIUM

Some minor flags were detected. This could mean limited transaction history, a receive-only pattern, or interaction with low-risk flagged addresses. Proceed with caution.

50–74HIGH

Significant risk flags detected. The wallet may be linked to phishing, blacklisted addresses, or asset theft. We strongly recommend avoiding this wallet.

75–100CRITICAL

The wallet is flagged as dangerous. It may appear on the OFAC sanctions list, be a known malicious address, or be directly linked to Tornado Cash or other sanctioned mixers. Do not interact.

How to Use Risk Scores

Before sending crypto to any address, scan it on CryptoGuard. If the score is LOW, you can proceed with confidence. If it's MEDIUM, investigate further. If it's HIGH or CRITICAL, do not send funds. You can also set up monitoring to get alerted if a wallet's score changes over time.
